I think this is a great idea, and it won't affect pve players in the slightest.

Why must we always find a reason to complain? ?_?

While I do PvP from time to time, I generally consider myself more of the PvE community. However, I think that this is a fair idea. Considering that PvE players have so much content to explore and stuff to find, I don't think that it's a bad idea to let the hardcore PvPers get some benefit from their hard work. I really don't think that adjusting PvE and PvP to be more stable and balanced on their own terms is a bad thing just because there is the fear of 'elitism'. There will always be PvP and PvE snobs, this won't do much to change it imo.

So, to the dedicated PvPer, PvE now means nothing, thus futhering the divide between PvE and PvP.

That, in conjunction with the upcoming PvE-Only skills, signifies the ultimate divide between PvE and PvP.

I bought GW because of its effective pseudomerging of PvE and PvP. I'm a little disturbed by the segregation.

In practice, it may be nothing, as the skins are limited to only the Elite PvPers, and they may be quite expensive. But if I see Warriors running around with Elemental Swords and Crystalines in RA, there's going to be hell to pay.
I do not agree fully on the first statement, because well, we all have (somewhere deep inside) the feeling we wanna look good. Well at least I have that feeling.

This is also what worries me. Me and my friends casually pick up a random player or 2. Give them a decent, simple build and off we go to HA/TA. Same way in our GvGs we have 2 teams of regular GvGers and sometimes we put in a new guildie and do unranked games, so they can see if they like it or not.

What I tend to see happening is the current big hole of player experience that is (I do not think rank is a way to see if somebody is skilled yes or no, because even the most insane person can ebay or get rank farmed.) this new skin system will only decrease the possible random pick-ups. I got 3 accounts, one purely for storage (lol, you collect some stuff in 2 years and I can't get rid of it all... *jeej trade system* j/kin) one that is mixed PvE/PvP and the other one I just got pure PvP rolling... If I play on my storage account and look for a group and finally get accepted (1 hour later) in a team. They are amazed of my PvP capabilities, but when they see my PvP account they are like... Duh shes so good cuz of her rank! (WRONG) ... and I fear this will happen with the new rare skins aswel now. Take a look around, in the inter dis you need r3 at minimum or you won't get a team.
Not something I worry for because I will get into teams one way or another and still have the only fun I currently get from GW, besides farming, fact I did that for the looks nothing else. Farming HM, nah I rather go RA or something. At least 2 hours of work will get me some winning 10rollers.

I think the less skilled PvPer or starting PvP talent will only get a harder time getting into a team with this Unique Skins coming up.

As for the hardcore PvPers out there already know, skills can only be seen in the heat of GvG, down with a lot of DP and your team still comes out winning. And nah it doesn't matter balls how noobie our armors and weapons look like. Experience can't be bought. The points to 'show' the experience however, can.

ACtually it will effect PVE players.

Prices will go crazy mainly because the main reason they are jacked up on certain items in the first place, the ones that look the best, is because PVP players pay boatloads for them. Mainly look good in PVP. Who wants to look good in PVE? LoL.

Now since they won't pay near as much for them, since you can unlock it for free with points, PVE players will be low on money, because they will farm the weapon, and no1 will buy it for 100k+100ectos.

PvE becomes a grind fest, and now PvP can now get all the goodies from PvE without putting a single foot in PvE... wow... That's rubbish...

What next? Making PvE able to get fame through quest rewards? Make PvE get access to PvP-only minipets like ghostly heroes? ~But of course, this will be highly unlikely...

PvP rewards should be limited to what it already was : Balthazar and fame + the occassional wintergreen bonus items (mostly only accessible through high-end GvG) + titles which reflect your pvp status.

Same for PvE, rewards are nice armor and weapons + loads of useless grinding titles...

Want nice skin armor or weapon? Go play PvE.
Similarly, if you are PvE only and you want fame? Go play PvP.

ANet seem to have lost it completely... They change the focus of the game from a team game to that of a solo game when they created the Hero tournament and now they give away the prestige of one side of the game to encourage that change... That sounds like rubbish...

If they really wanted to support that, then they should just give the usual PvP rewards e.g give fame in Hero battle (since apparently, they think it shows such promise that it warrants a tournament cash reward, on its own.)

Uh, don't forget that these things are probably gonna cost zillions of faction.

Its either save up gold or save up faction, think I know what fits better.

Nice!!!! It took long enough to incorporate this idea in the game. I'd like to get my hands on some pvp tormented weapons Then I'll never have to pve again. They're worthy of the name "Tormented weapons" since you have to torment yourself doing endless DoA farming and power trading or multiple boring UW smite runs just to get them. If they are added, I'll gladly start playing again since I pretty much have no reason to even touch the game lol

you guys are getting way too far ahead of yourselves. why? because all in all, it's still MUCH easier to roll a pve char and deck it out with cool gear than to unlocked it by playing tournaments. only those who can pvp 24/7 have a chance to unlock something truly worth keeping, and many of those people already have fully decked out pve chars.

this change, in the grand scheme of things, won't affect anything.

Its not faction. Its reward points for doing tournaments.

I guess it depends on what skins we're going to be able to unlock. Bums me out that we can only get them through participating in the tournament, though. That kind of saddens my view on it.

Thats the most RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing stupid idea ever, why would you want some moron in your group who PVED his rank? I guess you're one of those guys who thinks he should get in ranked groups, despite having zero experience? People want to play with people of their own skill level - grab 8 friends/pugs and play unranked fotm to get a feel for the maps and the place. Grind your bambi that way and then you can work your way up. I don't know, maybe you'd prefer to QQ on forums about it instead though.

Try getting a W/Mo PvP char into one of the more regular HA teams or if you're known in the TA one of the groups there. Chances are you get laughed at without the rX under ur name.

@boko: Try some PvP it isn't as easy as it sounds and without having set a foot into PvE most regular PvPers wouldn't have become this good.
There's some things like good team work and such you can just pick up in 1 match. I think the rewards are fair towards PvPers and I just think the cons for the starters will get worse... which I regret on one side...

If that's going to be the case, then I bet there's going to be a lot of bitching about not being able to spend their Balth faction for it.

Exactly.

Fame should be limited to PvP and armor and skins to PvE. Period.
As for titles, both sides have their share of grind titles.

PvP really want a super gift/reward for their achievement? How about a gold items or the uber minipets (which apparently are great rewards for PvE).

I really had hoped that the reward points could have been used on something better then this. It may be cool, but I really wouldn't like to see extravagant weapons like crystallines dead swords, elemental blades etc even being available. Id rather them had actually developed something new as a reward, but knowing anet and actually making content that won't happen. So yeah imo idc as long a the new skins aren't TOO amazing I mean I could see like the final tier of axes being like a mammoth axe skin.

And yeah I find it funny people thinking you exchange faction for the stuff too when they don't even know about Reward points.

Seriously, this is ridiculous. Why are they giving skins away and not ACTUAL weapons? Why should you only get the reward if you roll a PvP only character and not if you use a roleplaying character in PvP? Customize em to prevent selling if you want, it doesn't really matter. It is ridiculous that once again rolling a PvP only character in 2 seconds benefits you more than spending hundreds of hours equiping your roleplaying character to make him PvP worthy. If you can PvP with roleplaying characters, why don't they get to reap the rewards as well? Completely ridiculous. And now PvE players are getting their own set of skills. Has it happened? Yes, I think it has. It seems Guild Wars is no longer one game, but two completely separate ones. Or at least it will be in the near future. Ugh.

Great for the uber "hardcore" elitists who think "PvP" or "PvE" is the greatest, horrible for people who actually enjoyed both. GG GW.

I said it a year or so ago, and I will say it again.

There should be pvp like emotes for PvE titles, it's only fair now.

FYI, I am rank 6+ already...and i've played enough build to know how HA or high end pvp works...

It takes much longer and boring to make a PvE PvP-ready than to win matches in Hero vs Hero battle.

I worked hard to make PvE char pvp-able... and I know how much work it takes for the high GvGer has to spend just to show off their armor and skin in PvP. That's like a kick in the face of those who actually played the game, and I mean both sides of the game, not just one aspect.

Smooth.
Exactly, and I want to know when I can get a nice Runic Blade or the like in PvE as well. Oh, and one must not forget about Rank Emotes.

After all, if one style of play gets something then the other should have it as well after all Balance is important isn't it?
Taking away the reasons PvPist had to deal with PvE should also include taking away the reasons PvEist have to deal with PVP.

I'm not really complaining, I'm just wanting PVE to also get the same privileges as PvP since PvP will be getting the PvE privileges soon.
